Sure clean eating is great for you, but what could be better than a big fat burger after a long day at the office? This weekend I suggest you ditch the calorie counter and head out for a cheat meal.
Mac Daddy’s is the one and only place you can get 22-inch pizzas by the slice and feel like you’re in New York at the same time. Think thin base, crunchy crust and super cheesy. The pizzas here are sauce-less with a heap of cheese, making them a lactose intolerants nightmare. If you’re after oversized comfort food, loud art work and killer hip hop tunes then this is the place to be.

With former chef at Cantina 663 and The Old Crow, Ben Atkinson at the helm, it’s no surprise Meat Candy is delivering the best fried chicken around town. Located on the outskirts of Northbridge, its laid-back dining space makes it the perfect pit-stop after a long day at the office. The menu inspiration comes from authentic Southern food, with American favourites like fried chicken legs, hot ribs, potato hash and jerk corn.

Health warnings are certainly high at Johnny’s Burgers. With the “Burgerzilla” challenge running monthly, diners are required to sign a waiver before consuming the 3kg burger. Finish 1.5kg of beef, 700g bacon and 500g of cheese plus a side of fries in 45 minutes and it’s free. It’s suggested you go here hungry, as the American meal sizing is no joke. Don’t forget to order a side of curly fries and cheese sticks!

Vegans are advised to stay as far away from here as possible. With the crew at Old Faithful serving up good old-fashioned American-style BBQ meats with hot sauce on the side and cocktails aplenty. Some say it’s like a licensed food truck without the wheels, serving potato salads and coleslaw in paper cups with a side of food truck attitude and casualness, I say it’s a damn good meat party. You decide.
