With the colder weather creeping in on us, there’s no better time to get your hands on a warm grilled cheese sandwich, and I know just where to get them.
Toastface Grillah
You’ll find some of the best toastie combo’s at Toastface. They’ve got everything from 3 cheese to chilli cheese and even weird mashups like brie cheese and jam. Grab an iced coffee to wash it all down, and end on a sweet note with a baked mars, malteser or oreo slice from Perth’s own Mumma’s Sweet Lies.

Get Ya Fix
This little bike shop is pumping out the old school jaffles daily, but they’re going beyond the classic ‘baked bean and cheese’ fillings and stepping it up a notch. The ‘Uncle Kraut’ packs in pastrami, sauerkraut, swiss cheese and thousand island dressing, and the ‘Mafiosa’ has kalamata olives, red capsicum, ham and cheese. And if those are too far out of your comfort zone, they’ve got a classic ham, cheese and tomato that’s sure to send you on your bike.

Flo Espresso
The guys at Flo Espresso have taken toasties to a whole new level. Their kimchi and cheese toasted sandwich ranges with fillings from pulled pork to chicken, and they’re all under $10, making it the perfect lunch pit-stop. They’ve also got a dark choc brownie that’s rumored to be pretty epic. And 5 Senses supply this little café with the finest beans, so you can even get your coffee fix while you’re here.

BOO Espresso
This little hole in the wall café does both sweet and savory grilled sandwiches, so you can have your flat white with a nutella, mascarpone and raspberry filled tosatie on the side. But for something more meaty, Fresh Off The Press has got sopressa salami, marinated roasted peppers, rucola and salsa verde between two thick slices of bread. Take your pooch down and he’ll even score himself a little doggie treat.

Leake St Cafeteria
If you haven’t already heard, ‘that crumpet guy’ from Masterchef has opened up his own little café, and he’s doing some pretty good toasted sambo’s. Everything here is locally sourced, so you can feel extra good about shoving that slow cooked chicken toastie into your gob. And if you’re a vegetarian, he’s got a fermented beetroot and chargrilled broccoli toastie that’s sure to hit the spot.
