Put that sad bunch of supermarket broccolini down and grab your hessian bags because there’s a new farmers market in town.
Just when we thought Mt Lawley was about to hit the market stall snooze button, this little farmers market event pops up.
Claiming the ECU Village in Mt Lawley as its stomping grounds, there’s rumored to be over 60 fresh food, meat and bread vendors as well as the mandatory food trucks.
The organiser of the event, Peter Jenkins recently told Community News that he wanted International students to be able to share their culture through food.
“I have some contacts at ECU and we were talking about engaging international students residing here and get them out and get them interacting with each other, and also to expand it for the community,” he said.
As far as vendors go, no names have been mentioned just yet, but hints have been dropped about a possible dumpling truck.
“There’s a high Japanese population here, so we will be looking at Japanese vendors and international fruits and vegetables.”We’ve also had an inquiry from a dumpling maker in Margaret River” said Mr Jenkins.
The event will be held every three weeks, with the first market kicking off on Sunday, July 16. Wear your stretchy pants!
